Daniel Alexander is a visionary BAFTA Connect filmmaker and award-winning director based in Birmingham, UK. He is renowned for directing the official film for the Commonwealth Games Handover Ceremony, which was broadcast to a staggering audience of over 1.5 billion viewers worldwide. This achievement underscores his ability to create impactful content on a global scale.
As the creator and director of the viral horror film "Gale: Yellow Brick Road," a dark reimagining of "The Wizard of Oz," Daniel has captivated audiences worldwide, amassing multi-million views. His expertise has led him to provide training for filmmakers through prestigious organisations such as BAFTA, BBC, Apple, and BFI.
Daniel's recent documentary "LEGACY," which explores the origins of rap and grime music in the Midlands, has achieved remarkable success. Featured on Google Arts, it is now being adapted into a live symphony orchestra rendition by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO).
In a groundbreaking achievement, Daniel filmed the entire series of ITV's hit show "Deep Fake Neighbour Wars," which garnered global attention and mentions from multiple celebrities. His influence extends beyond the screen, with a mural of his face in Birmingham city centre alongside notable figures like Jorja Smith, recognising him as one of the future Black leaders in the UK.

Daniel's talent has earned the trust of major brands including BT, Nike, Warner Bros, Timberland, Tiger Aspect, and the Commonwealth Games. He sits on the board of the region's industry screen body, 'Create Central,' and is an Associate Artist of the REP theatre.
As a cinematographer with over a decade of experience, Daniel's credits include complete series for ITV and BBC, as well as international feature film productions. He is also the creative producer and curator of BACK IN, the region's leading Black film development programme.
Daniel's innovative spirit led him to establish The Midlands Film Archive, an online platform showcasing original films by Midlands-based filmmakers, which has become the go-to website for films in the region, featuring BAFTA-winning productions. He is also the creator of the widely-used colour grading software 'CinePre.'
With a commitment to social engagement and artist development, Daniel regularly delivers community workshops for emerging artists and young people from diverse backgrounds. His multifaceted career and dedication to nurturing talent have established him as a transformative force in the UK's creative landscape.
